What is the course about?
This comprehensive 12 week bootcamp is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as a Retrofit Advisor and Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA). The program focuses on the principles of retrofitting, energy efficiency, and building energy performance assessments in compliance with the latest industry standards and regulations.
This course is ideal for those who are looking to advance their skills and qualifications in energy efficiency, with a clear pathway to becoming a certified professional in the green industry.
Please note: This is an intensive 4 day a week course, Mondays to Thursdays 09.30-15.30
Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit is being funded through DESNZ Warm Homes programme and Level 3 Domestic Energy Assessor is funded through GGLA.
You don’t require previous experience or qualification, but you should have Level 1 ICT and Maths and Level 2 English or above, and be able to understand and follow complex verbal instructions.

Level 2 Understanding Domestic Retrofit provides foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in domestic retrofit and PAS 2035 framework. It combines theoretical understanding with practical application, including site visits, employers networking to give participants a real-world perspective on retrofitting homes for improved energy efficiency.
Level 3 Domestic Energy Assessor provides comprehensive training to qualify you as a DEA. The course combines in-depth theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience to prepare participants for conducting professional Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) assessments in accordance with UK regulations.

The course is assessed with an internal assessment by portfolio of evidence

- You will understand the basics of building envelope and energy efficiency
- You will be able to apply PAS 2035 standards when conducting a retrofit report for domestic properties
- You will understand what a building fabric is
- You will know what a HVAC system is and how to control the energy management
- You will know what the certification, compliance, rules and regulation are
- You will understand the planning and managing retrofit projects
- You will know how to monitor and maintaining energy performance
- You will be able to perform EPCs for domestic properties
On successful completion of the Retrofit Advisor and Domestic Energy Assessor Bootcamp, learners may progress directly into employment as a Retrofit Advisor, Retrofit Assessor or Domestic Energy Assessor or progress onto higher learning in the Retrofit field, such as the AIM Qualifications Level 4 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.
