WAES offer a full range of courses specifically designed to help you succeed in your career in childcare or as a teaching assistant, from entry qualifications all the way up to Level 3.

The childcare sector has grown rapidly in recent years. Whether your focus is on nursery care, child minding, teaching assistant or after-school provision, we have courses to suit your ambition.

WAES also offers a range of qualifications for those already working or wishing to work as a teacher, trainer, instructor, assessor, or quality assurer in the adult education (16+) sector.

Courses for beginners through to advanced level

If you are a total beginner and want to gain some valuable skills with a detailed childcare, education or teacher training course, or already have some experience and want to add extra skills to your CV, studying with us will help you and enable you to make progress in your chosen field.

All our courses are extremely popular so we recommend that you apply early to avoid disappointment. You will need to undergo an assessment and interview before enrolment for all courses.

Entry requirements

Entry to all childcare, education and teacher training courses is by assessment and interview.

In order to work with children, a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is essential. We will support you in attaining this police check.

Some learners may need to increase their written English to GCSE grade C level. WAES offers a range of English and Maths courses that can be taken alongside your qualification.
