Our introductory Level 1 Hair and Makeup courses are for people who are new to the industry and unsure if they want to work in hair or media make-up. Upon completion of the course, learners will have received a thorough induction into both the hair and media make-up sectors, thus enabling them to decide which career path they wish to pursue.
Hairdressing and Barbering
Our nationally recognised women’s hairdressing and men’s barbering courses can be completed at Levels 2 and 3. On these courses you will gain the knowledge required to develop the skills needed to secure employment in the industry or become self employed.
Our hairdressing courses are popular for those looking to work in the industry in a variety of roles and specific fields such as hair for TV, film, theatre, fashion shoots and commercials, as well as in salons and spas. Examples of job titles for those who specialise in hairdressing include bridal hair stylist, salon hair stylist, colour technician, barber, freelance hair stylist, salon manager or owner.
Media Makeup
Nationally-recognised media and theatrical makeup courses are delivered at Levels 2 and 3. On these courses, you will gain the knowledge and develop the skills required to secure employment in the industry or become self-employed.

The main purpose of the VTCT Level 1 Award in Hair and Beauty Skills (VRQ) is to enable learners to develop hair and beauty skills, techniques and knowledge, which will prepare learners to progress to the next level of vocational learning. All the units in this qualification directly prepare learners for further study in the hair and beauty sector.All units in this qualification have been designed as a foundation for further study both in the hair and beauty sector and more broadly.
This Level 1 Diploma designed to prepare the learner for the Hair and Beauty Industry. You will gain insight to the industry and working in the Hair and Beauty sector.You will develop hair styling and makeup techniques using a variety of products, tools and techniques.You will study the basics of Health and Safety and how they apply to the the industry along with the importance of client care.
This Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make up is a qualification that will develop your practical media make up and hair skills. You will learn how to apply make up for different occasions and situations. You will study skins types and face shapes plus eyebrow and eyelash treatments and photographic make up.
This Level 2 Diploma in Woman's Hairdressing and Level 2 Certificate in Barbering will teach you the underpinning principles and practical skills required to become a stylist of women's hair and men's barbering. Different cutting, colouring and styling techniques will be developed using live models as well as theory classes about Health and safety, salon reception, client consultation skills and developing your own designs. You will gain good knowledge of all aspects of Woman's Hairdressing and Basic Men's Barbering.
This Level 3 Diploma in Hair and Media Make up is a comprehensive course that has been specifically designed to develop your practical Media Make-up and Hair skills to be a professional Makeup Artist for all the mediums of still and moving camera work, internet, commercials, performance, and stage.You will learn how to and dress hair, apply prosthetics, create bruising and minor injuries, create character and makeup looks. You will have an understanding of lighting and camera work and have the experience of presenting your work for the end of year show and other projects through the college. You will know how to conduct yourself in a professional, safe, and ethical manner as befits the trade.
This Level 3 Diploma in hairdressing is designed for hairdressers already working in the industry, those who would like to refresh their skills after taking a break or people progressing on from the Level 2 Diploma. You will improve your knowledge and practical understanding of hairdressing and build on the skills you already have. This course will also develop your communication skills and professionalism.
