Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to our vibrant learning community in the heart of Westminster.

Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES), the City Council’s adult college, extends a warm welcome as you embark on your educational journey with us.

At WAES, my dedicated team and I are committed to motivating adults to achieve their goals through inspirational teaching and transformative learning experiences. Expect nothing less than an enriching and nurturing environment, guided by our friendly, welcoming, and highly experienced staff.

Whether you’re aiming to advance your career, delve into a new interest, or enhance your overall well-being, we have the perfect course tailored just for you. Our dedicated staff will seamlessly guide you through every step of your educational journey.

Our recently expanded digital technical programmes meets the surging demand for skilled individuals in tech, featuring skills bootcamps covering coding, full-stack development, and cybersecurity qualifications. Drop by one of our centres to discover more.

This year also heralds the exciting introduction of our sustainability skills curriculum, a testament to our commitment to climate action and to expanding horizons for adult learners in the green skills sector. For those exploring their creative side, our art, fashion, ceramics, floristry, and graphic design programmes offer fosters creative talent and delivers robust pathways to Higher Education and employment.

Inclusive of our diverse communities, our well-established ESOL programs ensure rapid acquisition of English language skills, vital for successful living and working in the UK.

Not ready to study at one of our centres? We have an extensive programme from Art – Zumba delivered in the community, and with community partners to give you a gentle reintroduction to learning.

Acknowledging the unique challenges faced by adult learners, our Careers and Employability Hub, supported by a skilled team, stands ready to assist you with crucial next steps, from CV preparation to mock interviews and connecting you with the right employers.

Understanding that juggling responsibilities is part of adult learning, we are uniquely positioned with our Ofsted regulated on-site nurseries at Lisson Grove and Pimlico centres (rated good and outstanding), to provide a secure and high-quality learning environment for your little ones.

Amid the cost-of-living crisis, we remain committed to making learning accessible and affordable, offering most courses for free and flexible instalment payment plans for those in need.

If you’re contemplating that next step, we would be thrilled to welcome you to one of our centres. Once you become part of the WAES learning community, we’re confident we’ll ignite your passion for learning and inspire you to achieve your goals. I eagerly await the privilege of welcoming you to WAES.
