What is the course about?
This Entry 3 Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector and Environmental Sustainability is intended to provide learners with a broad introduction to the hair and beauty sector, equipping learners with underpinning knowledge and skills specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills. This is a short, taster course into the sector. Learners will also study sustainability within the industry. Understand the the basic concepts of sustainability, the importance of natural resources and about the global environmental impacts of agriculture and industry and how they might be reduced
This is an Entry 3 Beginners Course, so you do not need any previous hair or make-up experience. You are required to have Entry Level 3 English and Maths and basic IT skills.
In this course you will gain a general introduction to the Hair and Beauty sector covering Health and Safety in a salon environment, for employers, employees and clients. You will also learn about skin care and how to carry out a skin analysis. You will lean how to prepare to out carry some basic plaiting and twisting hairstyles.
The course will be taught through a blend of practical work, demonstrations and theory classes delivered on site in class and on line. You will build a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed in order to demonstrate your competance and gain your qualification. You will need access to reliable internet and the use of a PC or laptop in order to attend the online sessions.
Products and tools are provided. You will be expected to bring a pen and note paper to each class.
You will have learnt about the importance of Health and Safety in the industry and how to work safely and hygienically in the salon.You will be able to prepare the skin and client for a basic consultation and make-upYou will be able to carry out basic hairstyles with plaits and twists
Upon successful completion of this course you can progress onto Level 1 course in Make-up and Media Make-up if your level of English is at the right level.The level of English required to move onto Level 1 Hair and Make-up is is Entry 3 Functional Skills
