Families play a vital role in children’s learning, development and wellbeing. Our Family Learning courses are designed to support parents and carers to feel confident in this role—helping you better understand how your child learns, engage with their school, and support their progress at home.
We offer a wide range of free, friendly workshops and short courses that focus on practical skills you can use straight away. These may include:
Sessions are interactive, supportive and designed for adults with a wide range of experiences, including those who are new to the UK or new to learning. Many courses combine learning for adults with practical ideas you can share with your child, helping you build confidence together.
We don’t ask you to apply for a specific course. Instead, when you get in touch, our team will speak with you to understand your needs, interests and your child’s stage of learning. We’ll then guide you to the most suitable workshops or courses, so you feel supported from the very beginning.
Courses are held in accessible local venues—including schools, family hubs, libraries, WAES centres and community spaces—with some sessions also available online. All Family Learning courses are free.
Whether you want to support your child with reading, build your own confidence in English, or better understand the school system, Family Learning offers a welcoming and practical way to get started.
