Mubashira previously attended the College of North West London, but since moving to Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES), we’ve seen a real difference in her learning experience and development. At WAES, her education is more practical and employment-focused. Instead of just classroom-based learning they have been taken to the zoo to help out there. These experiences have helped her build real-world skills that will be useful for future employment.
She particularly enjoys practical tasks such as cleaning, cooking, gardening at home and has been recognised by staff for doing excellent work at the zoo, where she helps with cleaning and has even received awards. This has boosted her confidence and motivation. Mubashira loves attending WAES and looks forward to her sessions.
Although we appreciated the support at her previous college, WAES has offered even more in terms of practical development and encouragement. The only improvement we would suggest is more regular communication with parents, such as termly meetings, so we can stay informed and involved in her progress.
Overall, WAES has made a positive difference to Mubashira’s life. She’s thriving in an environment that focuses on her strengths and prepares her for the future. – Muhazeena (Sister) on behalf of Mubashira)
