What is the course about?
This AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) course is a mid-level accounting qualification, ideal for anyone who is looking to advance their existing knowledge of accounting. Delivered in partnership with Mindful Education, this flexible course combines online learning with face-to-face lessons through our Online and In Class model. You will study a range of more complex accounting tasks and develop a deeper understanding of financial processes, including preparing financial statements, management accounting, tax processes and business awareness. This course is fully funded for eligible learners through the Adult Skills Fund, or alternatively, you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of study.

This is a Level 3 course, designed for learners who already have a solid foundation in accounting and are ready to progress to more advanced topics. To enrol, you must have Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths or GCSE English and maths (grade 4/C or above), as well as the Level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting (Merit or above). You should also have a good understanding of bookkeeping principles and confident digital and IT skills. All applicants are required to attend an interview with the course team before enrolment to ensure the course is the right fit.
The Level 3 AAT Diploma in Accounting covers a wide range of essential and more advanced accounting skills. Core units include: Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements; Management Accounting Techniques; Tax Processes for Businesses; Business Awareness. You will learn how to apply accounting knowledge in practical contexts and understand how finance functions within different types of organisations.
We have partnered with Mindful Education to deliver this course through our flexible Online and In Class model. Online Learning: You will study award-winning video lessons on demand, accessible via phone, tablet or computer. Lessons include animations and motion graphics, alongside practice questions, downloadable materials and interactive case studies. You should expect to spend approximately 5–6 hours per week studying independently online. In-Class Learning: You will attend regular weekly classes with a tutor. These sessions are designed to review your online learning, reinforce key concepts and provide personalised support. Discussion with classmates will help strengthen your understanding and maintain motivation. Assessment: This course is assessed through computer-based exams for each unit.
Learners on a low income or in receipt of applicable benefits may not be required to pay a fee. We may also be able to provide a laptop*. You will need regular access to a computer or laptop and reliable internet service to complete this course. Once enrolled, learners will be given access to Microsoft Office 365. You will need a non-programmable calculator.
This qualification prepares you for a successful career in business, finance or professional accountancy, and for progression to higher-level study. You will develop skills in: Advanced bookkeeping and financial statement preparation; Management accounting and decision-making; Tax processes and business awareness; Using financial data to generate insights and support decisions. You will also develop professional behaviours such as working independently, applying judgement and operating effectively in real-world financial environments.
Progression opportunities include studying the Level 4 AAT Diploma in Professional Accounting or further professional qualifications or higher education. You may also be eligible to apply for AATQB (AAT Bookkeeper) status. This qualification prepares you to support the financial operations of a business or organisation and for a range of entry- and mid-level roles, including: Accounts Assistant; ;Assistant Accountant; Finance Officer; Credit Controller; Payroll Supervisor; Senior Bookkeeper; Tax Assistant.
