What is the course about?
CompTIA Security+ is an industry?recognised cybersecurity certification that provides learners with the essential knowledge and skills required to identify, assess, and respond to security threats.The course covers core cybersecurity principles, risk management, and defensive techniques used in modern IT environments. It prepares learners for entry?level roles in cybersecurity and provides a strong foundation for further progression in the cyber and IT security sector.
This is a technical professional course aligned to Level 4–5 in terms of difficulty and leads to an industry certification rather than an academic qualification (no UCAS points).As a minimum requirement, learners must demonstrate Level 2 English, maths, and digital skills through initial assessments. Learners should be confident using computers and have a basic understanding of IT concepts. Prior experience in IT, networking, or security is beneficial but not mandatory. Suitability will be confirmed through assessment and interview.

The course is delivered through one day per week of tutor?led classroom sessions, supported by structured independent study to be completed outside of class.Learners will be guided through the course content during taught sessions and are expected to consolidate their learning through self?directed study and exam preparation. Assessment is through the CompTIA Security+ certification exam, which is externally set and marked by CompTIA.
This is a full?cost course, and learners are required to pay the course fee in full. You will need access to a computer for taught sessions, independent study, and exam preparation. Any certification exam fees or vouchers will be confirmed at enrolment.
By the end of the course, you will be able to identify security threats, apply security controls, manage risk, and respond to incidents in line with industry best practice.You will also be prepared to sit the CompTIA Security+ certification exam and demonstrate job?ready cybersecurity knowledge suitable for entry?level security roles.
