WAES Learner Forum Celebration Recognises Learner Achievement

The WAES Learner Forum Celebration is an annual event that brings together learners who have taken on key representative roles across the college, including Learner Representatives, Learner Governors and Digital Ambassadors.

This year’s event began with the Learner Forum led by Charlotte Wolf, Head of Quality Improvement, and Shqipe Jashanica, Careers and Learner Development Officer. They welcomed attendees and highlighted some of the significant achievements and events that have taken place throughout the year.

Learners then took part in an interactive discussion where they were encouraged to share their experiences of WAES and education more broadly. The session provided an opportunity for learners to voice their views, discuss the changes they would like to see in the future, and take part in a question-and-answer session. Also in attendance was WAES Principal, Arinola Edeh, who listened to learners’ feedback and answered their questions.

“When I volunteered as a Digital Ambassador it gave me the opportunity to meet learners from different backgrounds and find out what challenges they had with computers, it’s always great to help and you can add this experience to your CV.” – Kealeboga Madisa – WAES Learner Governor

Following the forum, the celebration ceremony recognised the valuable contributions made by Learner Representatives, Digital Ambassadors and Learner Governors throughout the year. Certificates were presented by Arinola Edeh in recognition of their commitment, leadership and dedication to enhancing the learner experience.

In her closing speech, Arinola encouraged learners to share their educational journeys with others and inspire more people to return to learning. She also expressed her sincere thanks to the Marketing and Careers teams for their hard work in organising the event.

The celebration concluded with a speech from WAES Vice Chair Governor and former learner Carolyn Keen, who spoke about the importance of perseverance, lifelong learning and the transformative power of education. She congratulated all learners on their achievements and wished them every success in their future endeavours.

The event was a fitting celebration of the contributions, achievements and positive impact of WAES learners, highlighting the important role they play in shaping the learner experience across the college.
