What is the course about?
Please note: This is a year-long course that runs on Mondays and Wednesdays, 09.30-16.30
This UAL accredited course is designed to give you every possible chance to develop your skills, competencies and knowledge that are required to study at a higher level in Creative Media Production and Technology and/or a successful future in the wider industry.
The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the media sector. It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in media to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure that is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.
All applicants must have:
- An interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them
- English and maths at level 1 or GCSE Grade 3/C and above
- Good IT skills at level 1 or above.
- Good understanding and practical skills in at least relevant at least three Adobe programmes
- Evidence of a good portfolio in the subject area OR a level 2 diploma in subject area at Merit.
Unit 1: Introduction to media processes and technical skills
Unit 2: Introduction to design and research skills in creative media production
Unit 3: Introduction to professional practice in creative media production
Unit 4: Critical and contextual awareness in creative media production
Unit 5: Investigating audio production and technology
Unit 6: Investigating visual production and technology
Unit 7: Investigating interactive production and technology
Unit 8: Developing a creative media production project
There is no formal examination: you will be assessed on the Final Major Project and the course work you produce which will be externally moderated by UAL.
Other costs include printing costs, and an investment self-directed study outside of the tutor led activities, around 8-10 hours per week.
In the final term you will have the opportunity to participate in the summer exhibition.
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the media sector.
Many of our learners have gone on to study at the top London Universities or have gained employment as designers, art workers and in other creative jobs. You can progress on to a Higher National Diploma or a University Degree. You may also choose to work freelance and / or set up your own business.
