What is the course about?
This course is for you if you want to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries within Digital Product Design. The course will cover Digital Product Design, Project Management, AutoCAD, User Experience (UX Design), and Web Development.
Ideally you should have completed our Level 2 Autocad course before taking this course, and have very good computer skills.
You should have Level 1 English and be able to follow simple verbal instructions and be able to read handouts and health and safety information. You should be able to use numbers to do simple measurements and calculations. You will be expected to participate in group discussions and tutorials.

You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence based on 5 units.
A pen or pencil and notebook for taking notes, and your own computer at home to work on assignments.
- Explore the features and uses of a variety of digital products to discover the key principles of navigation and user interaction. Know how to plan, design and develop a digital product for a particular purpose and target audience by applying visual communication skills such as colour, typography and grids.
- Develop the knowledge and skills needed to use computer aided drawing (CAD) software to produce a variety of CAD drawings, from single-part 2D components to complex 3D models. Investigate the use of CAD and the hardware and software required.
- Understand project management concepts and the processes and tools used by organisations to manage digital product design projects. Know about project management methodologies and use project management software to plan a digital product design project, track progress, and review outcomes to determine project success.
- Explore the principles of user experience (UX) design and how it is used to create products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users. Know about the design process to develop a UX solution to meet user requirements.
- Develop an understanding of web technologies and use Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript to design and develop a website.
After successful completion of the course, you could move on to Higher Education, an apprenticeship or employment.
