What is the course about?
The Level 2 AutoCAD course is a comprehensive 10 session training program designed to take your AutoCAD skills to the next level. This course builds on the Level 1 AutoCAD, and is perfect for those with a basic understanding of the software looking to develop their expertise.
Please note, this is a WAES certified course, and will allow you to progress onto our Building Information Modelling (BIM) with Revit course.
All applicants must have:
- An interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
- English and maths at level 1 or GCSE Grade 3/D and above
- Good IT skills at level 1 or above.
- Evidence of a portfolio in the subject area
- You must have completed AutoCAD level 1 or an equivalent or 25 hours of recent study
AutoCAD Fundamentals: Understanding the interface and basic tools for 2D drafting.?
2D Drawing Techniques: Creating, editing, and refining geometric objects.?
Layer and Annotation Management: Organizing designs using layers, text, and dimensions.?
Object Properties: Applying line types, colours, and grouping for efficient workflows.?
Plotting and Layouts: Setting up layouts, scaling drawings, and preparing for output.?
You will be taught using a range of techniques including workshops, short lectures, demonstrations, and by completing practical exercises. Brand new Windows computers with double screens are provided for each student. Student preparation and homework outside class is encouraged. Notes will be provided digitally. At the end of the course learners will assess their individual progress and progression with the tutor.
A pen or pencil and notebook for taking notes. Your computer will need to be able to download and run the AutoCAD 2024 trial, and this course is best when using a mouse instead of a trackpad. Your computer will need to meet the following requirements:

You can develop your skills further on our BIM with Revit course later in the year. To progress: - Learners must be working at Level 1 English and maths.- Have good IT skills at level 1 or above- Have good levels of punctuality and attendance- Have produced a small portfolio of work in the subject area.- Have completed AutoCAD level 2 or equivalent, or 75 hours of recent Autocad study, or can evidence industry experience of vector software.
