WAES offers a selection of Digital Skills Bootcamps. Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life. Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer.

The AWS re/Start for Success Skills Bootcamp is run in collaboration with Amazon Web Services, preparing individuals for entry-level cloud positions. It is a full-time 12-week course taking place at our Pimlico Centre, with some days of online remote learning after the first few weeks.
The Skills Bootcamp in Web Application is run in collaboration with Code Institute, teaching you the skills to be a full-stack web developer. It is a full-time 16-week course taking place at our Amberley Road Centre, with some days of online remote learning after the first few weeks. A coding challenge must be completed as part of the application for this course.
For the following courses, you may be eligible for full or partial government funding or a loan, depending on factors like your age, location, residency status, employment situation, or income.
This course is delivered in partnership with Code Institute and you will need to register your interest with them and complete their Coding Challenge before enrolling with us.
Once you have successfully completed the Coding Challenge, Code Institute will refer you to complete a WAES application so you can be invited for an interview. As part of the interview process, you will be required to complete a short, 15-20 minute programming assessment, along with assessments for English, maths and wider digital skills, designed to help us better understand your current level, so please ensure you are prepared to complete these during your interview session.
This academic year, we are running this course from 28 January 2026.
This qualification is for learners who want to develop and extend their digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries within Software Development. Learners should be able to demonstrate the skills and ability to study at Level 3.
The course introduces programming using Python as a programming language. This qualification is for learners who want to develop and extend their digital skills using concepts in computing. Learners should be able to demonstrate the skills and ability to study at Level 2.
Please note: this course is not available to learners in many areas of England with devolved adult skills funding, like Greater London. Please view the Level 2 Distance Learning page for details on eligibility
This qualification has a duration of 14 weeks and is designed for learners who want to gain knowledge of coding
The qualification may also support progression into further study in coding or other topics within the digital sector.For Greater London residents, these courses can be funded if they earn less than the London Living Wage or otherwise do not already have a Level 3 qualification, alongside the standard residency requirements.

This course has a duration of 26 weeks and its purpose is to provide learners with sector awareness. It will provide the learner with a chance to develop knowledge and skills relating to coding practices with the view to seeking employment or proceeding to further study in this area.
In the combined course you will understand how programming works and learn about cybercrime . You will develop text-based programming skills and understand routine protective methods used to maintain cybersecurity including the principles of vulnerability and penetration testing and user access control.
This qualification is for learners who have successfully achieved Level 2 Software and Programming and who want to develop and extend their digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries within Software Development. Learners should be able to demonstrate the skills and ability to study at Level 3. English and Maths at Level 2 will provide a good foundation for successful progression.
