What is the course about?
The course introduces programming using Python as a programming language. This qualification is for learners who want to develop and extend their digital skills using concepts in computing. Learners should be able to demonstrate the skills and ability to study at Level 2. English and Maths at Level 1 will provide a good foundation for successful progression.
It is a requirement that you have already completed the Level 2 digital course within the last 12 months.
The course covers the use of database software tools and techniques. Digital skills career progression to provide an understanding of the importance of digital skills in the workplace and how changes in employment have led to an increase in demand across a number of sectors. The principles of computer programming to understand how programming works developing text-based programming skills to design and develop their own computer program.
This course is offered delivered face to face within our computing classroom where you will receive tuition and direction at set times during the week from your tutor. You will need to be able to access this direct teaching input, engaging with your tutor and peers and have time to practice your skills as homework.
There are no costs associated with this course. It is essential that you have regular access to a computer or laptop and reliable internet service to complete this course.
You will develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers and covers a wide range and use of different digital technologies, systems and software.
You will need 90% attendance and have successfully passed the Level 2 Software and Programming to progress onto Level 3 Certificate in Software Development.
