What is the course about?
In the combined course you will understand how programming works and learn about cybercrime . You will develop text-based programming skills and understand routine protective methods used to maintain cybersecurity including the principles of vulnerability and penetration testing and user access control.
The course is Level 1, so it is a requirement that you have already are a proficient user in IT with a keen interest in going into the coding, programming or Cyber Security industry. As part of your initial we will be looking for you to be working towards level 1 in all areas identified in the assessment.
For programming you will will develop graphic-based programming skills to design and develop your own computer program. For Cyber Security you will assess risks and effects it has on individuals and organisations and protective methods used to maintain cybersecurity including the principles of vulnerability and penetration testing and user access control.
Through portfolio assignments and some practical observations
Learners on a low income or in receipt of applicable benefits will not be required to pay a fee. You will need regular access to a computer or laptop and reliable internet service to complete this course. Once enrolled, learners will be able to download a free copy of Microsoft Office and will be given access to Microsoft office 365. You will be also asked to install python programme.
At level 1 you will have grasped the basic understanding of coding, design a computer program including graphic based language and identify cyber crime alongside being able to know about protective methods to maintain cybersecurity whilst clear understanding of legislation and codes of conduct related to cybersecurity
Upon successful completion of level 1 you may want to develop your programming skills further onto our Level 2 Software & Programming or Level 2 Mobile App Development courses. Alternatively you may want use some of the skills acquired on this course to go into cyber security and networking industry by studying on our Level 2 in Principles of Cyber Security course.
