I was born with a cleft palette, and I’ve had a hole in my heart, in total I’ve had 16 operations since I was a baby. My parents are originally from Columbia, and I was born here with my younger and elder sisters. Before starting at WAES I was studying Maths and English at Kensington and Chelsea College. I was also at Queens Park College where I was studying hospitality specifically catering to get into work. I’ve been here at WAES for 10 years continuing my learning in multimedia, cooking, and Maths.
I have also been fortunate to work as an Early Years Practitioner/First Aider at Denbigh Under-fives for 11 years. I been involved in quite a few projects at Epic CIC and Disability Sports Coach Community Club.
I found the teaching at WAES very good. Passing my Foundation Skills Entry Level 3 preparation for Employment was one of my best achievements at WAES as it was one of the most challenging courses I did. As a result, I was able to find work at WAES as a Learner Practitioner helping learners in the classroom.
My overall the goal was to get a job and quite honestly, I’m happy where I’m at I continue to encourage people to find work in organisations who support those with disabilities because I believe we should be active and not stuck at home and helping others have a better quality of life.
If you’re looking to start a course at WAES then go for it, see where your achievements will take you, it will open many doors.
