What is the course about?
Learn how to make your own clothes on this short beginner's course. It will teach you how to use the sewing machine, as well as basic sewing techniques and processes. You will learn to construct a simple garment.
This course is ideal for complete beginners. No previous experience required.
Machine sewing skills, beginners pattern cutting, cutting out a garment, garment construction, finishing, hand sewing
Through demonstrations, discussions, workshop practice, one to one instruction and specialist tutor guidance.
Basic materials are provided including pattern paper and calico. You will be required to provide your own fabric for your final garment.
Be confident on a domestic sewing machine, be able to use an industrial presser and overlocker, cut out and sew a basic garment, be able to insert a zip, understand garment finishing methods.
You can develop your skills further on one of our short courses or take an accredited course in Fashion starting in September.
