What is the course about?
This course will enable learners to acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to develop additional specialist competence with education and early years. It will help practitioners to understand their responsibilities to children with special educational needs (SEND) and children who have English as an additional language (EAL).
This is a Level 3 course. Learners need to have a minimum of functional skills Level 2 speaking and listening, reading and writing and Functional skills level 2 Maths. Evidence of your certificates for your English will need to be seen. Additionally, you should have at least basic digital IT skills. You may need to have an Initial Assessment followed by an interview to assess your full suitability for the course.
There are 2 mandatory units which cover - Roles and responsibilities of the special educational needs co-ordinator in the early yearsStrategies and techniques for supporting children and families
This course will be taught face to face in the building.
Learners on a low income or in receipt of applicable benefits will not be required to pay a fee. You will need regular access to a computer or laptop and reliable internet service to complete this course. Once enrolled, learners will be able to download a free copy of Microsoft Office and will be given access to Microsoft office 365.
Upon completing the course you will be able to support learners in early years between the ages of birth to 5 years.
This qualification can lead to employment as a Early Years SENCO or opportunities to progress further in education with special educational needs, early years education or teaching and learning
