WAES Careers Week 2026

WAES Careers Week took place during the week commencing 2 March, aligning with National Careers Week. The initiative is a week-long celebration that highlights free educational resources and careers guidance activities at an important point in the academic calendar, helping adult learners build awareness, confidence, and excitement about their future career pathways.

The programme of talks and activities was organised by the WAES Careers and Learner Development Team and delivered both online via Microsoft Teams and in person at the Lisson Grove Centre. Each curriculum area welcomed a representative(s) from well-known organisations who shared insights into their industry and career journeys. Daily one-to-one careers drop-in sessions gave learners the opportunity to explore career paths, improve their CVs, and for ESOL and Inclusive Pathways learners, included Steps to Success; a supportive session to build communication, life and workplace skills while boosting confidence and independence.

Guest speakers and organisations included London Sensory Hair Care, Conway, St Mungo’s, LEYF Nurseries (Careers in Childcare), Mount Anvil (Careers in Finance), Christie’s, Seetec, Savills, Keltbray/Mace, and Mitie. WAES alumni Angie Lizbeth also delivered an inspiring talk, sharing her learner journey and how her studies helped shape her career progression.

Overall, WAES Careers Week gave adult learners the chance to explore a range of career options, develop practical skills, and hear from industry professionals and alumni. By combining talks, one-to-one support, and sessions like Steps to Success, the week celebrated learning, ambition, and personal growth.
