What is the course about?
The VTCT Level 2 Award in Preparing to Run a Hair and Beauty Business has been specially designed to enable you to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding required to be a successful beauty therapy or hairdressing entrepreneur, including an awareness of the benefits and risks involved in running your own business.
You do not need to have any previous experience in Hair or Make-up, but you do need to have a minimum of Level 1 English Functional Skills, as this is a Level 2 qualification.You will also need to have IT skills as you will be using the computer to upload your evidence of work.There will be an interview with a member of the Make-up department to make sure you are on the right level course.
You will gain an in-depth theoretical knowledge of the laws and regulations in your region which will impact on setting up and running a business in the hair and beauty sector.You will complete the mandatory unit which is Preparing to run a hair and beauty business.
The course will be delivered on site in class. You will gather evidence which will be assessed in order to demonstrate your competence and gain your qualification. You will need access to reliable internet and the use of a PC or laptop in order to complete your unit.
There are bursaries available for learners on concessions if needed. Advice on this can be accessed through the Learning Development Team.
You will have gained knowledge of the laws and regulations in your region to understand setting up and running a business in the hair and beauty sector.
Upon successful completion of this course, you can progress to a course in Makeup, Women’s Hairdressing and Barbering, or start setting up your own business.
