Get Online Week, organised by the Good Things Foundation, is a vital initiative aimed at promoting digital inclusion. Its mission is to provide people with the skills and confidence to access the internet and use digital tools effectively. Since its launch in 2007, the campaign has supported millions across the UK and beyond in getting online, building essential digital skills, and experiencing the benefits of digital connectivity.
In 2024, from October 14th to 20th, the campaign will once again bring together community organisations, charities, and volunteers to help individuals develop the digital skills they need, working to close the digital divide. Each year, the initiative emphasises the importance of digital literacy and offers resources to make technology more accessible.
WAES is proud to contribute to the Good Things Foundation’s mission of bridging the digital divide and has received 70 SIM cards, each providing two months of free data, to support our learners. These pre-loaded SIM cards, supplied through the National Databank initiative, will enable learners to access the internet from home or remotely, helping to alleviate data poverty.
