WAES Employer Connections Event

The first Westminster Employer Connections event of the year was held in the prestigious Lord Mayor’s Parlour at Westminster City Hall. The event was designed to bridge the gap between adult learners and key employer partners, fostering new opportunities for collaboration and career development.

The morning opened with introductions from Arinola Edeh, Principal of WAES, along with Gail Isaac (Head of Apprenticeships and Professional Pathways), Dominic Harris (Head of Creative Industries), and Waqas Ahmed (Head of Digital). Special guests included Rachel Davies from WAES Partner Willmott Dixon Interiors and WAES Floristry Learner Hannah Walsh representing The Dorchester Hotel. Other WAES learners were also at the event, sharing their personal learning journeys and future career ambitions.

“Sector-Based Work Academy Programmes (SWAPs) are a great way to support the skills gap the people that take part in the programme are ready for employment. We’ve just employed one learner and are looking to recruit three more. As a business it really helps target our recruitment strategy and keep our recruitment costs down but it’s also amazing to do good in the communities we’re working in by helping local residents.” – Rachel Davies, Willmott Dixon Interiors

The event concluded with a networking session, bringing together WAES learners and professionals from across the green skills, digital, childcare, hair, and media make-up sectors.
