WAES Inclusive Pathways Awards 2025

The annual Inclusive Pathways Awards took place this year with heartfelt celebration and recognition of the remarkable achievements of differently-abled learners at WAES. This year’s event was split into two separate ceremonies Employment Pathways and Independence Pathways both hosted by Sue Jenkins, Head of Inclusive Pathways.

The morning ceremony, dedicated to Employment Pathways, featured a special appearance by the team from London Zoo. They shared inspiring words about the volunteering scheme in which several learners have taken part. Certificates and vouchers were presented to these learners in honour of their outstanding dedication to helping maintain the zoo’s landscape. Carolyn Keen, WAES Governor, was also in attendance and offered her congratulations and support.

In the afternoon, the Independence Pathways ceremony welcomed a distinguished guest: the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Paul Dimoldenberg. In his first-ever visit to WAES, he delivered an uplifting speech and personally handed out certificates to the learners, who responded with cheers and excitement.

Both ceremonies were attended by members of the WAES Executive Board and the Inclusive Pathways Team. Together, they extended warm wishes to Sue Jenkins as she prepares to leave WAES for a new role focusing on Autism. Her contributions have left a lasting impact, and future collaborations are already in the pipeline.

The event was made even more special thanks to the delicious catering provided by Omolara Akinwumi, Inclusive Pathways tutor, and her dedicated team. Their efforts added a personal and celebratory touch to an already unforgettable day.

The Inclusive Pathways Awards continue to shine a light on resilience, growth, and achievement celebrating the journeys of learners who are building brighter, more inclusive futures.
