The annual WAES Learner Awards ceremony was held at the prestigious Lord Mayor’s Parlour in Westminster City Hall, continuing a valued tradition that has been part of WAES for many years. This special event honoured the accomplishments of learners across a diverse range of subjects, including Digital, Hair and Media Make-up, Community, Fashion, English, and Sustainability, during the 2024–2025 academic year.
WAES Principal and CBE, Arinola Edeh, warmly welcomed learners and their families. We were also delighted to be joined by the newly appointed Lord Mayor of Westminster, Paul Dimoldenberg, and WAES Governor Alexandra Hughes, both of whom delivered inspiring speeches.
Learners were invited to the front to receive their certificates, while Heads of Department took to the stage to reflect on the academic year and present the Highly Commended and Learner of the Year awards, celebrating exceptional individual achievements. This year’s ceremony also introduced a special graduation segment for our Full Stack Web Development learners, bringing an exciting new element to the event.
The celebration concluded with reflections from participants in our recent mentoring project in collaboration with the University of Westminster. Learners from across departments also delivered heartfelt speeches, expressing their gratitude for the unwavering support and encouragement provided by WAES staff throughout their educational journey. Guests were then invited to explore part of the WAES Creative Showcase Exhibition on display in the Westminster Community Gallery.
