Dance Westminster 2025

Dance Westminster is Westminster’s annual pan-disability dance competition for people aged 11+, designed to encourage disabled people to get active and express themselves through dance. The event is delivered in partnership between ActiveWestminster and Step Change Studios, an award-winning, pioneering dance company dedicated to making dance accessible for everyone.

The 2025 programme took place over the Autumn, featuring three in-person workshops and auditions held across the borough. This Strictly-inspired initiative offered free dance workshops where participants learned exciting new routines — and this year, an incredible 103 disabled people took part.

Following the workshops, auditions were held to select 10 finalists who would go on to compete for the 2025 Dance Westminster Champion’s Trophy and the People’s Choice Award, chosen live by the audience.

At the spectacular Grand Final, judged by Wayne Sleep OBE, Angela Rippon CBE, and Flavia Cacace-Mistry, finalists wowed an audience of over 230 people with performances across a range of styles including Latin, Bollywood, Contemporary, Ballet, Musical Theatre, and Hip Hop. Contestants ranged in age from 13 to 92 years old and represented a diverse community, including individuals with dementia, autism, learning differences, and varying mobility needs.

Adding to the glamour of the night, our talented WAES Hair and Media Make-up learners provided professional make-up for the contestants — helping everyone shine on stage!

After an incredible showcase of talent and creativity, Daniel and his dance partner Liam were crowned the 2025 Dance Westminster Champions with their stunning performance to “Take Me to Church.”

The Celebration Grand Final, held on Tuesday 21st October 2025, was truly an inspiring community event — a joyful celebration of inclusion, creativity, and the power of dance.

The 7th edition of the Dance Westminster will be held in 2026.
