This summer, WAES is proud to be part of Pride in the Quarter, a vibrant public art and community celebration organised by London Heritage Quarter.
London Heritage Quarter (LHQ) is the collective of four South Westminster Business Improvement Districts – Victoria, Victoria Westminster, Whitehall and The Northbank. Together, they represent thousands of businesses and organisations across some of central London’s most iconic locations, working to support local communities, enhance public spaces and celebrate the people who make the area unique.
As part of the Pride in the Quarter campaign, community banners and flags have been installed across the district to celebrate the individuals and organisations who contribute to the area everyday. The initiative shines a spotlight on local educators, community leaders, charity partners, hospitality workers and many others who help make Westminster a welcoming and inclusive place.

We are delighted that Ali Kanu, WAES Safeguarding Lead and Welfare Officer, has been featured on one of the Pride in the Quarter flags, proudly representing WAES within the local community. This recognition celebrates Ali’s commitment to supporting learner wellbeing and safeguarding, helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where learners can thrive and achieve their goals.
“It was a real honour to be featured on the Pride in the Quarter flag representing WAES. The campaign celebrates visibility, inclusion and community pride, and it’s powerful to see WAES reflected in such a public and positive way. It shows that WAES is not just a place of learning, but a place where people can be themselves and feel valued.” – WAES Safeguarding Lead and Welfare Officer, Ali Kanu
The Pride in the Quarter trail and associated installations launched on 1 June and will remain in place until 10 August 2026, giving residents, workers and visitors plenty of opportunity to explore the area and discover the stories behind the people and organisations being celebrated.
We are proud to see WAES represented in this inspiring initiative and to be recognised alongside so many organisations making a positive difference across Westminster.
