Adult Education Showcased to Minister for Skills at HOLEX Event

The HOLEX Winter Network event on Thursday 5 December was a great opportunity for Westminster Adult Education Service to meet and speak with Minister for Skills Jacqui Smith and showcase some of our transformational work with adult learners.

HOLEX is the lead professional body for Adult Community Education and Learning. In a room filled with over 150 leaders and practitioners in Adult Community Learning the minister provided much needed assurances that skills development for adult learners is crucial to the delivery of the Government’s missions.

Arinola Edeh CBE Principal and Assistant Principal Alison Muggridge were able to provide the minister with insights into the breadth of provision available in Westminster to ensure that adults get the skills needed to reskill and upskill and can secure fulfilling careers and live fulfilling lives.

Alongside City Lit, WM College, Acis Group’s training and skills service, and Coventry City Council’s Adult Education Service, WAES provided a special visual showcase to demonstrate the vital importance of the lifelong learning sector. This featured our Community Quilt, photography from our Creative Showcase, as well as some festive floristry produced by our learners including a piece for the minister herself.
